Copper also has good mechanical properties in terms of toughness, ductility, impact strength and is also malleable. ◊ The machinability of this grade of copper is rated as 20. To give context to this, a CZ121 Free machining brass is rated to approximately 100. The hot and cold working performance of C101 Copper is given as excellent. Work hardening effects set in relatively slowly, and the material can be annealed in neutral and oxidising atmospheres.
